Michele is no stranger to performing Funny Girl songs. During her run on Glee as Rachel Berry, she performed numbers such as "Don't Rain on My Parade," "My Man," and "I'm the Greatest Star."
The actress has been sharing behind-the-scenes snaps from the rehearsal process on her Instagram, including of the first time she sang "Don't Rain on My Parade" on the Broadway stage.
Michele was one of only two new cast members. The rest of the original cast, including Ramin Karimloo as Nicky Arnstein (pictured), has remained the same.
She received a bouquet of white roses for her first performance. Here, she's pointing to Jonathan Groff in the audience.
Broadway legend Tovah Feldshuh joined the cast, too, last night, and was also gifted with flowers on stage. Feldshuh takes over the role of Mrs. Brice from Jane Lynch, one of Michele's former Glee co-stars.
As Jared Grimes (left) applauds, Karimloo comforts Michele as she cries—tears of joy!—on stage.
The signage outside the August Wilson Theater has been updated.
Here's a video of Michele and Feldshuh taking their first bows. You can see Michele say "thank you so much," blow kisses to the cast, and begin to cry.
